There are plenty of websites providing truly free PDF converters for you. Just use Google.com to search (using keys like "free pdf converter") for one that works best on your PC. Below is one of them.

Attention:
PrimoPDF is a PDF printer. After you install it on you PC, you won't find an icon or shortcut to run it from. But it has created a virtual PDF printer on your system.
HOW TO USE PRIMO
  1. Create a normal MS Word or Excel document (or open existing ones).
  2. From File, go to Print (Do NOT use the printer icon on the tool bar because it will print your document with the default printer).
  3. In the Printer Window, choose PrimoPDF. The PrimoPDF Printer window will pop up
  4. Choose the type you wish (read more about this in the manual). Give the output PDF file a path and filename and click OK.
  5. The newly created PDF file will open itself using the default PDF reader on your PC. You can find the file in the location you set. If you're not sure where it is, give it this trick: From File in your PDF reader, try to save it as another name. This helps you get to know where the file is as the Save As window pops up.
  6. Enjoy yourself.
