The Embassy of Spain has the honour to invite you to the concert of the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Carlos Cuesta.
Manuel de Falla, La Romanza de Zarzuela and Ruperto Chapí (whose death centennial we commemorate), are the main parts of this concert, meant to be an homage to the Spanish music and lyrical tradition.

Carlos Cuesta is currently the director of the Atelier Gombau Chamber Orchestra. His keen interest on modern music has seen him producing a great deal of world premieres and recordings of works by Spanish and Latin American authors. He has played an important role as an opera conductor conducting in recent years productions such as La Bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly, El Barbero de Sevilla, Un Ballo in Maschera, Il Trovatore, Don Pasquale, Lucia , Mefistófeles...etc
This concert forms part of a project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain – by the hand of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID) - for the development of the teaching and interpretation of music in Vietnam and the promotion of the Spanish culture, through the cooperation with two of Vietnam’s main artistic and educational institutions, namely the Vietnam National Academy of Music and the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra. This concert is the result of an intensive and creative relationship, during the years 2007 and 2008, between the Embassy of Spain in Vietnam and the above-mentioned institutions.
